Claudia Chaseling

About

Claudia Chaseling, based in Berlin, Australia and occasionally NY city, is an abstract painter who uses the landscape as source material, seeking to capture great depth and alter the experience of space in 2D paintings, concrete sculptures and in 3D wall/floor/ceiling paintings. She explores the point where 2 and 3 dimensions intersect.

Claudia Chaseling was born 1973 in Munich and received two Master degrees in Visual Art, from the University of the Arts in Berlin and the Australian National University, respectively. Recent exhibitions include a solo presentation at the Staatliche Kunsthalle Baden-Baden, Germany (2012), Slag Contemporary, NYC (2012), The Bogart Salon, NYC (2012) and the Lulea Art Biennial 11, Sweden (2011). Major grants and scholarships received in Australia and Germany – include those of the DAAD, the Anne & Gordon Samstag Scholarship, the Karl Hofer Studio Award and most recently a PHD research scholarship from the Australian National University School of Art. She has taken part in a number of international artists residencies. January / February 2013 she worked at Yaddo, NY, and later in the year she will commence a residency at Schloss Wiepersdorf in Germany. Upcoming exhibition will take place at Art Helix in NYC, The Wand in Berlin and she is invited to create a large installation at the X-Border Biennial in Rovaniemi, Finland.
