Ben Godward

A prominent figure in the Bushwick art scene in NY city, Ben Godward’s sculptures resemble the all-over approach of the famed abstract expressionists, and reveal underlying themes of pop culture, ravenous consumption, and a suggestion of toxic waste. Employing plastic, rubber, found objects and urethane foam his large, multi-colored sculptures reference the material exacerbations of our contemporary commodity driven culture.

Ben Godward was born in Indianapoils, grew up in the midwest and attended Alfred University in upstate New York. Ben received his M.F.A. in Sculpture from the State University of New York at Albany and won the 2007 Outstanding Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture. He has shown extensively in New York including such galleries as Pocket Utopia , Famous Accountants, Storefront, Fortress to Solitude and NorteMaar where his recent solo show was reviewed in the L magazine.
