|The Storefront Collection
Opening April 5, 2013 – 6 to 9 p.m.
Köpenicker Strasse 4, Berlin-Kreuzberg
The Storefront Collection, a new project by Yvette Mattern, is modeled after New York City’s Storefront for Art and Architecture and Keith Haring’s Pop Shop from the 1980’s. The Storefront Collection, located on Köpenicker Straße 4 in Kreuzberg, Berlin, aims to empower artists and engage a new young collector’s scene in Berlin where small and limited edition artworks by established contemporary international artists sell for under 1,000 Euros. The Storefront Collection will not feature conventional exhibitions. It is simply a unique outlet in Berlin following the tradition of artist stores. It is not a window gallery but a small shop. Special consultant curators, art critics and writers will recommend artists from all over the world to submit small works to the Storefront Collection.
